association GRAFE

generation research action & training for the environment

For each project, GRAFE tries to create self-managed poles of development in a kind of partnership whose key steps are:

  • Identification of the site and the local actors by employees of the association in the concerned country
  • costs and feasibility study
  • validation of the projects by the Association Committee
  • check of the ongoing works during successive field missions

Since its foundation, the 1'205 projects of GRAFE have generated 1’205 jobs and 432 trainings. About 7'749 projects were successfully completed. At the end of 2012, the organisation had 1'493 ongoing projects in various countries

During the year 2013, the GRAFE completed a financial reorganization, in order to reassess the smooth running of projects managed by local partners.

Since 2014, GRAFE has decided to centralize the cash flow generated the repayment of microcredits. For better clarity, the steering committee decided to suspend the distribution of new micro-credit despite the continuing growing demand of new requests for support.

At the end of 2014, a major decision was taken by the steering committee GRAFE: all the repayments regarding ongoing microcredits in the area of Dakar and the northern regions were cancelled (see press articles).

Since 2015, granting microcredit activities have been resumed, after new monitoring tools for financial flows tracking had been defined.
